What is an OEM?
An OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) is a company that builds a product that it sells under its own company name and brand. An OEM, such as HP or Epson, will manufacture the product and assign a unique part number to that product. At ACOM, we provide the OEM part number to assist you in finding a premium compatible cartridge.

What is a compatible cartridge?
Compatible simply means that though the product is not necessarily an original, it will still fulfill the same purpose. For example, most people do not use HP paper in HP printers; they use something similar that works just as well.
In addition, "compatible cartridges" can be separated into two categories. They may contain either "100% new components" or "new and recycled components".

What is a remanufactured cartridge?
A remanufactured cartridge is a cartridge that has been manufactured from new and recycled components. It has been "rebuilt" to match the exact specifications of the "original". In many cases, OEM cartridges actually contain "recycled" or "recovered" materials (it's usually listed in fine print on the packaging in an inconspicuous place). In addition, some OEMs even sell their own brand of remanufactured cartridges.

How is a Toner Cartridge remanufactured?
It depends on the company you are purchasing from. Some companies sell cartridges as remanufactured, but do not replace old and worn parts, and do not thoroughly clean and test cartridges. They simply refill them with new toner/ink and resell them.
ACOM products adhere to strict standards before leaving our facility.
- The Cartridge is disassembled to remove toner and thoroughly cleaned before reassembly.
- All parts are inspected and replaced as necessary. A new or certified OPC drum is installed in every cartridge to ensure optimum performance and yields.
- Cartridges are generally machine-filled with custom blended toner designed to match both the OPC drum and wiper blade. (OEM Specs.)
- In most every case, cartridges contain as much as or more toner than the OEM cartridge.
- All cartridges have a supply tank seal guaranteed not to leak in transit.
- Cartridges are all labeled with part numbers and company information.
- Quality audits are performed throughout the manufacturing process and every cartridge is print-tested and quality certified before leaving the facility.
Results: Outstanding graphics, high page yield, exceptional quality, more environmentally friendly and LOWEST COST.

Why recycle toner cartridges?
A discarded laser cartridges add 4 pounds of non-biodegradable waste to the environment. Each year, millions of cubic feet of non-biodegradable laser cartridges are thrown into our nation's landfills. In 25 years, the total amount of discarded cartridges could fill more than half of the Grand Canyon. What many do not know, however, is that there are companies out there dedicated to recycling cartridges and provide various forms of recycling services. Remanufactured cartridges use a recycled core which reduces the amount of non-biodegradable waste in our landfills.

What is MICR?
The acronym "MICR" stands for Magnetic Ink Character Recognition. MICR is a process by which documents are printed using magnetic ink and special fonts to create machine readable information for quick document processing. The principal purpose of MICR toner is to print accounting and routing information on bank checks and other negotiable documents. MICR Toner is the most integral component of MICR printing.

How is MICR Toner different from Laser Toner?
MICR toner contains an iron oxide that permits the "bank line" information of a check to be read by electronic bank processing equipment. MICR toner is similar to standard laser printer toner, but requires a 50% to 60% iron oxide additive content to meet ANSI specifications for readability standards.
How does MICR Technology work?
The MICR line is located at the bottom of all checks and contains and special font. This font consists of numbers 0-9 and 4 special symbols that indicate the check serial number, the Federal Reserve District from which the check should be cleared, account number, check number and amount of the check. This information is processed on a reader/sorter machine that magnetizes the MICR line, then reads the magnetic signals. Each character puts out a magnetic signal that identifies that character.

Most users cite the following as the main benefits of converting to MICR printing:
- MICR Laser check processing provides a much higher level of security.
- Cost reductions; due to the elimination of the inventory and control of pre-printed check stock
- Creating a MICR Laser check is a single step process that adds payee data, signatures, logos, bank identification, and the MICR line to the check.
- Increased flexibility to add, change or delete new bank accounts on demand, without ordering new check stock.
- Decreased exposure to check fraud.
